A winter weekend of heaven

It’s nearly the shortest day of the year but today was a beautiful winter’s day. Topped of a great weekend.

Started Saturday when we farmed out both the kids to Guides camp and a mates place for a sleepover. Managed to get the side pergola down ready to replace the sheeting that’s been bugging me for years.

Went to Cutloose surf and bought myself a new pair of wet boots for surfing. More about that later.

Saturday night we had a great dinner at a restaurant called Capriccio’s at Glenelg. Awesome meal. Started off with Bruschetta which was terrific. Different to what I make with not as much onion and vinegar. Followed that up with Chilli Baby Squid on a risotto base.YUMM!

I don’t usually do desert but the food was so nice I couldn’t resist. Had Strawberries in Orange Liquour. Kim had Chocolate Dream and I had to finish it off for her – it was beautiful. Had a Venitian Coffee to finish it off.

Sunday morning we had a bit of a lie in before going down to Middleton for me to have a surf. Was really worried that the water would be too cold, but it was fine. The new surf boots I bought yesterday were brilliant. Kept my feet warm which was a huge problem last time I went out (about a month ago). The even improved the grip on the board so I was able to adjust my feet a bit more when catching the waves.

Started to be able to turn the board along the waves. Brilliant!

Came home and got to watch the last race of the V8’s. Chucked a Pork Roast in the Weber for tea to top off just a brilliant weekend. Can’t believe it’s winter. A fabulous weekend.
